WRITTEN TESTIMONIALS

I was privileged enough to get the opportunity to go through 40 treatments at Sun Valley Hyperbarics. It was a positive experience from the moment I arrived. The staff that runs the program is top-notch. I was talked into going to get this done from guy on my old team who had great results. I came into this program with residual effects lingering from getting blown up a couple of years ago. This program was probably the best single thing I did for my mental and physical health since I was injured. My headaches were significantly reduced/removed. I used to have headaches that would painful and make me extremely light sensitive. My light sensitivity overall also was reduced. It also helped me focus and sort of organize what was going on inside my head. I also had nerve damage in my right arm from shrapnel which was significantly improved. They used testing software to track progress with eye movements which also made significant improvements. I also was able to get off of all of my medications whereas before I would need to take Adderall to be able to get my day going and to focus at all. I was also taking Prozac for mental health which I also stopped. It wasn’t a magic bullet bet it definitely made it bearable to get off these medications. All of these benefits have helped my quality of life for sure. I was worth the time hands down. Not to mention all of the veteran’s programs and outdoor activities that were available during the treatments. I would recommend renting the upstairs apartment, deleting social media, and really enjoy the time well spent up there.

Raymond H. is an 8-year-old autistic boy who came to visit us this year. Before his treatments, Raymond was extremely quiet during our first couple interactions and did not make eye contact. We could tell from how he clung to his mother that he was very uneasy when it came to new spaces with new groups of people. Once in the chamber alone with his mom, his comfort level rose, and became hyper with spurts of loud outbursts while playing with his toys. Both parents explained that this was normal to see.

From our recorded information over Rayomonds 40 sessions, and from the intimate daily interactions between himself and his mother, both parties witnessed positive growth. From the technician and data gathering side of Raymond’s treatments, the first major change to happen right away was his energy level. From recorded numbers, Raymond was a solid 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. At the end of 40 treatments, this specific area had peaked around 8-9. The second noticeable change that occurred within the first 4-5 treatments was the extension of sleep throughout the night to a high of 8 hours.

Add-ons to our data collection included “Distraction/Defiance/Anxiety/ADHD-Hyperactivity.” During the first 10 dives, every single one of these categories was at its’ own high. These numbers came out to a 6 or an 8 respectively. Then there was a serious jump come the second round of 10 treatments. All numbers associated decreased to either a 4 or a 2. This was incredible considering this all fell under the time frame of a week and a half. Finally, we had the third and fourth rounds of 10 treatments where these numbers sat at around 1-4. From conversing with Raymond’s mother, we got to see through her own eyes the new developments blossoming within the boy. During the third week, notable changes were: Acceptance of change/Interest in change/More self-control/More responsibility/More on task. By the end of that week, and continuing onward till the end, we would regularly hear: “He is communicating more, and appears to be happier! Raymond is not bothered by changes and has been reading. Another interesting thing is that he has been very interested in exploring nature. Problem-solving has also become a new daily interest.

After Raymond’s 40 sessions, we could tell that the boy had become extremely confident when it came to engaging with the staff and explaining his thoughts. He would walk apart from his mother or father and would look us in the eye while conversing. Outbursts were nearly non-existent, and a new calm and confidence had washed over the boy. We were all very touched to see Raymond’s three-week transformation.

Hyperbarics of Sun Valley is currently treating Stan Barrett—a retired Hollywood stuntman with a wild and storied life. Never one to back away from a challenge, young Stan earned a black belt in two forms of karate; was a former Golden Gloves boxing champ; and served several years in the military. Shortly after starting to pursue a career in the health care industry, Stan fell into the stunt business by chance and ultimately became a highly sought-after double for leading men including Burt Reynolds, Paul Newman, and Steve McQueen. In 1979, he broke the land speed record—and the sound barrier—in the three-wheeled Budweiser Rocket vehicle at Edwards Air Force Base. Having established his need for speed, he later joined the NASCAR circuit and drove in 19 Winston Cup Series races, posting two top-10 finishes along the way. Although his life has slowed down more recently in a literal sense, he still travels the world doing good works for charity.

But a lifetime of pushing his body to the limit took its toll, requiring multiple surgeries to repair broken limbs, ribs, and back. After trying numerous medications and a wide variety of treatment modalities to address his residual chronic pain—as well as his sleeplessness and invasive negative thoughts—Stan decided, with the encouragement of his adult sons, to give hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) a try. He remembers thinking, “What do I have to lose?”

After his first HBOT treatment, Stan reports that he slept three hours straight. “I didn’t even move,” he said. At time of our interview, Stan had completed 16 of 40 HBOT treatments and was eager to continue the process—and his progress. “My attitude has changed a lot since I started all this,” he said. “I’m more positive about things, and I don’t have the same dreams, [negative] things I’ve seen don’t pop into my head all the time … I never really thought these things could affect me psychologically, but they have.”

Thankfully, HBOT has also helped relieve a lot of Stan’s chronic back pain, to the point where he has been able to drop several of his pain-management medications. Has also regained mobility in his stiff neck.

Since Stan started HBOT, both of his sons have noticed positive changes in his outlook, and he himself reports having a renewed sense of vigor. “After starting HBOT, I feel some hope.”

Thank You For The Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

I would like to thank the Hyperbaric Health and Wellness Foundation for the treatment I received in July of 2020. I have struggled with many health issues as a result of my combat service in the Army, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to receive high-quality treatment.

I am diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Tinnitus in addition to back, knee, hip, and neck pain. I served in the Army from 2000-2004 and I served two combat tours in Bosnia and Iraq. I have had several concussions as a result of hard parachute landings, car accidents, and various explosions in my general vicinity. I may also have mild TBI as a result of these, although I have not been formally diagnosed with TBI.

I noticed significant improvement to cognitive abilities, and much less anxiety as a result of hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Additionally, my joint and back pain have been reduced, and my ringing in my ears has been reduced in half.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. I look back and wish I had treatment sooner from the fantastic results. Please thank the entire staff for their professionalism, technical competence, and wonderful attitude. It means a lot to me that the staff was so dedicated and kind throughout my treatment.
Oxygen Treatment
As one of the chamber technicians at Hyperbarics of Sun Valley, I recently had the pleasure of treating a former Army Green Beret for a couple of weeks. When I first introduced myself to him, he was quiet and reserved. I could see that he had no idea of what to expect from the 40 treatment sessions that lay ahead. This made me all the more excited to help him through the experience.

On his first day in town, we processed his paperwork and moved him into the private suite on the second floor of our facility. As soon as he had settled in, we got him into the hyperbaric chamber for his first “dive.” He had some anxiety at first, as being in the chamber was a totally new and unique experience, but he relaxed quickly once he learned he could play games on his phone and text his friends.

Before and after each session during that first week, we asked him a series of questions to get a baseline read on his level of his physical pain and how he felt about himself. It was clear that his PTSD and lower back discomfort brought on from a blast during deployment were a hindrance in his daily life. With a plan for treatment, we started him off diving down to 50 feet in the morning to reduce inflammation in his back, followed by a dive down to 16 feet in the afternoon to maintain the elevated oxygen saturation in his body until the next day. Based on his questionnaire responses, we could see him start to experience improvements within the first two weeks.

In relation to his lower back pain, our 1 through 10 rating scale (10 being the worst) indicated that his irritation dropped from a 4 to a 1 within the first week. Similarly, his reported level of brain fog, which started at a 6, had dropped to a 2 by his fifth dive. We were thrilled to see these results, as was the patient. He was smiling more now and handling social situations with greater ease than before he started treatment.

As the treatments continued, his brain fog number also dropped to a 1, and by his 24th dive, he was off his medication completely. Along with this amazing transformation, I regularly took him out to our breathtaking rivers so he could enjoy the views and experience fly fishing in the Wood River Valley. I could tell by his laughter and smiles that he enjoyed every minute of his time here. By the end, once goodbyes and high-fives were exchanged, he summed up his new sense of well-being with, “It was a game-changer.”
It was a Game Changer
I Witnessed Fantastic Improvements

Last year I was invited to join the team at Hyperbarics of Sun Valley by its owner, Phil Rainey, who also happened to be an ex-Army diver. Phil had learned that I was a professional diver living in the area with training on decompression chamber operations. Of course, I immediately took him up on his offer – there’s not much for a diver to do at 6,000 feet, and this was a perfect opportunity to keep my training current. I had heard about the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the medical field, but I had no real knowledge of its success in treating a long list of symptoms and illnesses. My decision turned out to be a real eye-opener.

Within my first year of working with veterans and local patients, I witnessed fantastic improvements in their health – both physical and mental. On the veteran side, I have primarily helped treat traumatic brain injuries and PTSD. As they try to make their way back into civilian life while coping with such challenges, these former military members live a different day-to-day reality than the rest of us. But hyperbarics can help change that. During the course of the veterans’ treatments, I could hear the confidence return to their voices and see the happiness rekindled on their faces. Some were able to see the path ahead of them more clearly. Others regained a calmness of mind and the ability to breathe a little easier in this new environment. After administering more than 40 treatments, I can honestly say that the people I have treated now live happier lives than those they were living before.

As for the local patients and those who travel from outside the area for hyperbaric treatment, the list of issues they seek to address is endless. One specific instance that sticks out in my mind is a family that was looking for a different method to treat their young autistic son. It was only after 10 treatments that I asked this mother if she was seeing any notable changes in the boy’s habits or personality, and her response left me speechless: In a voice trying to hold back emotion, she explained that her son was now sleeping in his own bed at night. Something even as small as this was a great gift, for it allowed both her and the boy’s father to enjoy restful nights for the first time in years. My response: “Wow.” This was powerful news.

I continue my work at Hyperbarics of Sun Valley with a clear understanding of its potential to help reshape lives. This method of treatment is worth trying, even if you’re somewhat skeptical about it. Post-operation healing, inflammation, depression, post Covid-19 symptoms – the list of issues where hyperbaric therapy can help goes on and on. As long as there are individuals who are suffering, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is here to help.
